A House of Sickies

When I picked up Nolan from school on Thursday he wasn't feeling well. He had the flu. He was feeling better by Saturday. He hadn't thrown up at all during the day. Then Saturday night he woke me up in the middle of the night. He had thrown up again. What??? Guess he wasn't feeling quite better yet. As I was cleaning up the mess, I realized I really wasn't feeling too well either. BUT moms aren't allowed to get sick, I thought. :P I stayed home from church with him on Sunday. Nolan didn't throw up at all. It was my turn. Monday, today I was still not feeling well. Up all night throwing up is quite exhausting. Nolan went to school. About 45 minutes later I get a phone call from his school. He wasn't feeling well. Adam went to go pick him up. He seemed just fine to me, but we gave him another sick day anyway. Adam took Annika to work with him. I was able to get some rest and have an excuse to crochet. :) A lady from New Jersey bought one of my Boston Terrier Hats. After she received it, she said she loved it so much she ordered 4 more. I love crocheting, but I might be a little Boston Terrierd out once these are done. :) I'm also having lots of fun selling things on etsy. I've had 9 bows sell so far in just a couple of weeks. 4 of them went to Australia... Hopefully, it'll keep getting better. ANYWAYS, so Adam was sweet enough to have Annika all day so I could get my strength back. I was feeling a little better by 2:00 or so and told him if he was busy I could have her home. They got back a little after 4. Adam made some homemade chicken noodle soup at his work and brought it home for us and then had to leave right away. Annika had a couple of bites and then puked. :P Ugh! I was grateful it didn't happen while I was sick too at least. It's so hard to take care of sick kids when you're not feeling well yourself. This is the first time Annika's caught the flu. Poor baby, didn't quite know what was going on. She is asleep on my floor. I am paranoid that she'll wake up gagging on her puke. :( So, I might not sleep too well tonight. It's definitely a lot nicer when they get old enough to run to the toilet instead of letting it out ALL OVER!!! I hope we don't have to postpone her blowing out her birthday candles on Wednesday. We'll for sure need to postpone a party though till everyone's done being sick!!!

Hi!

Our neighbor was outside talking to his parrot who was also talking. I tried to tell the kids not to be peering on their side of the fence, but they were very interested in what was going on over there. We heard things like, "Hello," "I love you," "Hi." The man would say it and then tell his bird to say it. At one point, this happened:

neighbor to his bird: "Hello?"
silence
neighbor to his bird: "Say hi."
Annika peering through the fence says, "Hiiii!!"
laughter coming through the other side of the fence. :)

Pom Pom Park

I love the age Annika is at right now for several reasons! One reason is she's starting to play with her toys for longer periods of time. Not just get a toy out, make a big mess of it and move on to the next one. It comes in handy while I'm doing hair. She doesn't stand at my feet and scream at me to hold her now. I'm loving our house because while I have a hair appointment she can play in the toy room right next to it. She'll get one of her toys to show whoever is getting their hair done. She'll go back and forth, back and forth showing them all her things. It's so cute. Today she played with these princesses for quite a while.

The second someone is done with their haircut, Annika yells, "Addys." Meaning, "Annika's turn!" If I cut her hair every time she wanted me to, she'd have no hair left! In fact, after today's hair appointment left, I walked out of my "salon" came back just a few seconds later to find Annika in the chair with my shears held up to her bangs. She was this close to taking a wack out of them. YIKES! Somehow in the few seconds I was gone she had gotten my shears out of their case and ready to cut! It's all a matter of time...I know it'll happen one of these days.

Annika has an amazing memory. Last night before she went to bed she told me she wanted to go to the pom pom park to see the geese. She's getting very good at talking and telling me things I can understand. It's quite nice. If I "get it right", she nods her head. She calls it the pom pom park because she lost one of the pom poms that are on her boots there. First thing when she woke up this morning, she said, "pom pom park." I tried to fit it in before getting Nolan from school and we ran out of time, then the weather got bad...oh well. We'll try another day.

Two Peas In A Pod

It's close to midnight. Nolan woke up screaming with foot cramps. I went in to rub his feet. In the other room, I heard Annika saying, "Mama, mama." I told Nolan I'd be back in a few. I went in to Annika's room. She said Nolan's name, I think she heard him crying. I told her Nolan had owies on his feet. I asked her if she wanted to snuggle with Nolan to help his owies. She said yes. I let them snuggle for 10 minutes or so and came back to find these two asleep like this.

So fun to have both kids home the last couple of weeks. Nolan went back to school today. Annika was asking about Nolan all day. They had some good bonding time during the holidays. They are best buds!

Now, time to transfer Annika back to her crib without her waking up...ya right! Wish me luck...
