Pain
Today was a sad day. We got to church. I happened to be sitting in the back with the kids instead of in the front passenger side. When Nolan got out, he shut the door on his finger. I of course just HAD to be on the opposite side of the car. I don't know at what point Adam realized it, but he was fightin tryin to get the door open which was locked. Luckily it hadn't happened on my side because on the way to church we couldn't get the back door where I sat opened without reaching inside to use the handle. It was dumb, something is messed up. Anyways, so FINALLY we got the silly door opened and Nolan starts screaming even louder, "BAND-AID, BAND-AID, BAND-AID..." So, luckily we happen to carry a first aid kit in the trunk and quickly got him a band-aid. It actually wasn't bleeding too bad, much to my relief. It just looked a little blue. :P We'll see if he looses his nail. Well, Nolan does not handle pain well at all and I knew I'd need to sit outside with him for a while till he calmed down, so Adam took Annika in. We sat in the car for about 15 minutes and Nolan was just getting worse. He seemed to be going into shock a little bit. I decided I needed to just take him home and have him rest. I gave him a little medicine to help with the pain and he slept until we went to go pick up Adam and Annika. He felt much better when he woke up and actually hasn't complained even once about it hurting. Poor guy. I hate to see anyone hurt, but especially my own kids. I just wish it could be me instead. Since Nolan seemed to be feeling better I just talked to him a little about how sometimes in life we are given trials or times in our life when we feel pain, but it's to help us become stronger. The pain we go through in this life is just a smidgen of what Jesus Christ went through. He went through it all, and suffered more than we can even comprehend. He did it because he loves us and made it possible for us to return to live with him and Heavenly Father again if we keep the commandments. It seems a little sad to say, but I hope the worst pain we would ever need to experience would be our fingers shut in a door, but most likely, we won't get off the hook that easily. BUT, I know we won't be given any trial that we can't handle. AND we are not alone. All we need to do is pray. Prayer really does work! Anyways, I didn't quite go into this much detail with Nolan, but he seemed to feel pretty good that he was becoming stronger even though his finger was hurt. Nolan doesn't seem to get hurt more than a scraped knee very often, so when he's in pain, things are pretty dramatic. :P He's ok now though.
