Looking Forward To 2014

We're still alive! I need to get back on the blogging boat for several reasons.  A few of them are: I'm not good at writing in a journal, blogging is just more fun.  The kids love looking back at when they were younger...and so do I.  And, my phone is filled of pictures and doesn't have enough space for anymore.  I know, this past year, 2013, I fell behind on a lot of stuff.  When I get too far behind, I get really overwhelmed and stop altogether.  I'm so glad to be moving forward into a new year.  I might be playing catch up for a while, but I'm determined! 2013 was busy.  It was tiring.  The last 6 months of it Adam was working 7 nights on top of catering and daytime shifts for senior care.  He didn't get much sleep...he is amazing.  I had late nights.  I'd usually stay up til at least 11:30 p.m. to make sure he woke up to his alarm to go to work.  I stayed busy doing stuff in my Etsy stores.  Having these Etsy stores has been a lifesaver for me.  At times they've been more busy than I'd like, but they've kept me from going crazy, I think.  I love having something to do to unwind in the evening.  Adam gets 3 nights off now, things will be a lot easier.

Moving forward.  The kids are growing up.  They are so much fun! Like I said, I need to catch up on this last year, but here's a bit about each kid now.

Nolan turned 8 last November.  He was so excited to be baptized.  When he was getting ready to talk to the bishop for his interview, the bishop came out and told him he'd be with him in just a moment.  Nolan replied with a, "Yeah, sure!" It came out sounding like, "Yes Sir!" We all laughed.  He's such a good boy and a good example to everyone around him.  Isn't he such a handsome boy? Nolan is doing really well in school this year.  He says he doesn't like school, but I tell him, he wouldn't like to be home schooled.  He's too much of a people person to stay home.  He loves to read! He loves to go to gymnastics a couple of days a week.  It's good for him and he is getting so strong.  He loves to play games.  Always.  If you ever want to make friends with  Nolan, just offer to play a game with him.  He never gets tired of them.  Nolan is a cub scout and loves it! He looks forward to it all week! There's just a small group of boys, but they have so much fun together! Nolan loves his primary class.  His teachers this year is Brother and Sister Hillstead.  Brother Hillstead was just released as a counselor in the Stake Presidency.  They are the best! They hand out treats...yeah.  They are memorizing all the Articles Of Faith this year in Primary.  Nolan had them all memorized before he turned 4, but he doesn't remember them all now.  At the end of the year, he and Annika can earn an ice-cream scoop for each Article Of Faith they learn.  I'm pretty sure Nolan will have 13 scoops of ice-cream.  Plus in his class, he gets a full size candy bar for each Article Of Faith he passes off.  Today he brought home 4 Twix candy bars.  He knows Twix are my very favorite and shared part of one with me.  :) I just love this boy!

Next, here's beautiful Annika.

She is a sweetie pie! I've loved this past year with her.  She is my little snuggle bug.  She gives the best hugs! She could snuggle all day, if we could.  Most days, she's the sweetest girl.  Some days I wonder how I'll ever get through the teenage years with this gal.  We will see.  But, I love her to pieces.  :) She loves playing with Nolan and Parker.  She loves to go to the park and play.  She loves to have her day to go to gymnastics now.  I love watching her play with other kids.  She's a good friend.  Annika started Sunbeams this year.  She was so happy to be out of Nursery.  She was getting bored in there, I think.  She loves telling me what she learned about when she gets home.  She got to give the scripture today in Primary for the first time.  She talked very quietly, but she did it.  She is doing so well reading her scriptures every night.  Sometimes I'm tired and forget to read them with her, but she always comes out, sometimes a half hour later and brings me her scriptures to read.  Nolan reads them every night with us, but I realized Annika needs to also.  She repeats what I read.  I hope it will help her speech get better.  She has a hard time pronouncing her Rs.  And her Ls.  But, she's getting better at those.  Annika got a special princess castle bed for Christmas.  I knew she'd love it and she does.  She could play in her room for hours.  She has a great imagination.  I love listening to her act out little stories with her dolls and snuggle buddies.  She loves to do preschool.  I just do it at home with her.  She is the one who usually comes to me wanting to practice writing her letters or play little learning games.  She asks all the time when she can go to school like Nolan.

Last, but certainly not least, is Parker, aka: Hurricane Parker.

Parker turned 13 months old yesterday.  He is my destructive one...he is currently tearing apart the book shelf.  He gets into everything that he shouldn't.  We close doors.  If one opens that he knows he's not supposed to go in alone, he is SUPER FAST and sneaks in, giggling the whole way.  I've never seen a baby crawl so fast.  He's smart.  He's tough.  And he means business! Whenever someone is sitting on the floor on his level, he'll pin them down and attack.  He thinks he's bigger than any of us.  He has such a contagious laugh.  He needs a haircut soon, but he's such a wiggle worm, I might do it while he's taking a bath.  He rarely holds still.  Even when he's eating, he'll rock back and forth while he's eating.  He loves his snuggle blanket and thumb.  He falls asleep so well with those two things.  He isn't walking on his own yet, but that's OK! The other day he showed me a new trick he learned.: crawling down the stairs backwards...most of the time he can do it without hurting himself.  :P Parker is small.  I can't seem to make fat babies.  To me he's perfect.  The doctor wants to see him gain weight a little faster or he'll have to get blood work done.  At his last Dr. apt he weighed in the 1% for his weight and 8% for his height and mid 50% for his head.  :) I didn't think he was THAT small, but I guess so.  I've been putting butter and peanut butter on everything I can get away with.  The doctor called a few days after his apt. and told me he was a little less concerned because the scale he was basing it off of was with formula fed babies and went on about some other stuff I can't remember now...he's a good doctor, really.  So, Parker is more like in the 5% for his weight.  Still bigger than Nolan was.  Anyways, hopefully, now that I'm nursing him just once when  he wakes up and once before he goes to bed, he'll be hungrier for real food.  I think it might be helping.  Parker loves to play with cars and balls.  He crawls all over vrooming his cars and loves to throw his balls around the house.  He doesn't talk a whole lot yet, other than babbling, but he understands a lot of things.  I have so many more pictures to share, but this one is one of the most recent.  He's a cutie boy, that's for sure!

There ya go!
